Welcome to MAD Camp in the Wilderness
This year, our Music, Arts, and Drama camp will be very different, as everything else in the world is right now. This event will take place in the month of July. Each Monday of the month, beginning July 6, a story and music video will be posted on our church web page. There will be suggested activities for the week, as well. All ages are invited to attend; there are no age requirements as there will be something for everyone. You can do as many or as few of the activities as you choose. Supplies and instructions will be available at the church from 9:00 – Noon on Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd. While many of the activities use things in your home, you can come by with your masks on and we will give you whatever else you need.
We encourage you to post pictures of your activities on our First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque Facebook Page. If you have not already done so, “Like” or “Follow” this page. Once that is done, go to the Home Page, and click on “create post”. A new window will open and you can start typing your message or add photos from your computer or phone. Click “post” when done. Please note that we must have a signed permission form from you if you are posting pictures of anyone under 18. These are available in the church office.
We also have copies at the church of “Praying in Color”. This book gives ideas on how to pray with drawing and color. It is not a manual with exercises for each day. Read it, and then use the ideas to help you “color” your prayers each week.
Our Scripture focus will be Isaiah 43: 18 – 19
Do not remember the former things, Or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
We will explore two of the most definitive events in Israel’s history, the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, and the Exile to Babylon. We will not end the story there, but will go with God’s people back home. We will be asking ourselves what we can learn from their experience. What is God saying to us in this time and place?
Anyone is welcome to use this, just please note the
